Barbs on 3 sides. A fine needle for detail work and getting a neat surface. Best not to use it when working with coarse fibres or for rough sculpting/bulk work.

This is to be expected and not a sign of manufacturing defect, please take this into consideration and purchase enough of your favourite sizes to have on hand so that you're not left in a bind!
