    Malabrigo is a family-owned yarn company in Uruguay that was founded in 2005. They are recognized worldwide for their magical hand-dyed colourways and scrumptiously soft merino wool bases.

    All of Malabrigo's superwash processes and colorants meet Oeko-Tex standards. Their wool is 100% produced by Uruguayan farms that allow their  free-range sheep through the hills, herded by shepherds. Like Canada, the controversial practice of mulesing does not exist in Uruguay.

    Manos del Uruguay is a non-profit social organization which, since 1968, has provided jobs for craftswomen living in Uruguay rural areas.

    Manos del Uruguay craft dyes vibrant, smooth, faded or space dyed colors, which give the yarns an infinity of tones and shades, making the Manos palette something unique, special, and easily recognizable worldwide.

  • Noro

    Noro was founded over forty years ago by Eisaku Noro. The handcrafting yarns in particular are well known for their vivid colors and combinations of diverse fiber types.

    They differ from a number of other manufactured yarns in the industry by having lengthier spans of color in the runs, causing distinctive striping patterns, as well as being partially spun by hand versus being produced completely by machines.

    A family business established in 1928, Novita is the largest manufacturer of yarns in the Nordic countries. The company’s spinning mill in Kouvola, Finland manufactures one million kilograms, or 10 million balls of yarn, per year! Now in the family's fourth generation, we're so happy to welcome Novita to Canada - so you can get it here rather than trying to overstuff your suitcase on visits to Finland!

    Novita's yarns are made to be warm and durable. They also invest heavily in renewable energy sources and purchase their raw materials, including wool, from nearby regions.

    SANDNES GARN AS was established under the name of SANDNES ULDVAREFABRIK in 1888, and is one of the oldest factories in Norway that still produce yarn.
