A family business established in 1928, Novita is the largest manufacturer of yarns in the Nordic countries. The company’s spinning mill in Kouvola, Finland manufactures one million kilograms, or 10 million balls of yarn, per year! Now in the family's fourth generation, we're so happy to welcome Novita to Canada - so you can get it here rather than trying to overstuff your suitcase on visits to Finland!
Novita's yarns are made to be warm and durable. They also invest heavily in renewable energy sources and purchase their raw materials, including wool, from nearby regions.
Just the right strength and magnificent colors have made Novita's 7 Brothers a true long-term favorite. 7 Brothers is a blend of 75% superwash wool and 25% nylon. The warmth and stretch of the yarn comes from the high-quality wool, while the durability comes from the nylon used. Yarn is suitable for any knitting or crochet patterns with Aran or Worsted as the recommended weight. Multiraita & Raita are self-striping qualities of 7 Brothers, while Polaris is a variegated colouring.
We recommend needle sizes 3.25mm - 3.75mm for socks, or 4.50mm - 5.50mm for other items such as hats, mittens and sweaters.
Machine washable at 40 degrees - we recommend on a delicate cycle. Novita is always made in Finland.
